Causes of Pain
How we use our bodies influences the types of injuries or conditions we may have.
Most muscle and joint pain is caused by:
- improper doing (poor ergonomic activity)
- overdoing (weekend warrior syndrome)
- underdoing (“couch potato” syndrome)
The source of pain may be traced to:
- structure - an injured tissue, such as a herniated disc or an irritated tendon
- function - an imbalance of muscle and joint relationships
Often both structural and functional problems occur together.
To eliminate pain and prevent its recurrence:
- irritated or injured tissues must be treated to promote healing
- dysfunctions or imbalances must be corrected to restore the body back to optimum health
